Reader’s Question:
We are a little confused. Here’s hoping you can help me with a health insurance issue. My husband has recently had some fairly extensive, emergency heart surgery in Farmington, New Mexico. The medical bills are starting to pile up but I am not sure if these will have coverage. Are all these covered by our health insurance? What do I do wiht my health insurance to help us?

Best wishes to your husband’s speedy recovery in New Mexico. For you this must be a stressful time. Stay close to your health insurer and your health insurance agent. You representative can best help you sort through the often overwhelming paperwork. Feel free to take that paperwork to a meeting.
There are some basic things you should do to unscramble the paperwork. First, save each and every document that is connected to your husband’s procedure and recovery. This should include all prescriptions. Establish a neat filing system and read each document.
If your husband is covered by Medicare and Medicaid do not hesitate to contact social security. Again, you may want to schedule a meeting and take all your records for review. Take a copy of your health insurance policy when you go to your insurer in Farmington, New Mexico.
