My wife of 40 years and I just retired and are enjoying our years in our cozy home in Las Cruces New Mexico. All our children have their own families now and are quite comfortable. Do we still need life insurance?

Hello, Adrian, and hello to your dear wife as well! Life has treated you well, indeed. Aside from the many good tidings in your life, you are still with the same woman you loved some forty or more years ago. I’d say you’ve been jolly blessed, my friend!
It’s very easy to think that you wouldn’t need life insurance anymore at this stage, right? After all, everybody can fend off for themselves now; but how about your dear wife, Adrian? I guess because you have been together for a long time, it’s very easy to assume that you will always be together but sadly, there will be a time when one of you will leave the other. When this happens, would the one left behind be fully equipped to continue with the lifestyle he or she is already comfortable with, or hang on to the house, or still have that vacation from time to time? True, the kids will come in and take care of things but it would still be nice to know that nothing will be disrupted (at least financially) because of somebody’s passing, right? Aside from this, you might want to leave some gift or inheritance to your children or to your yet-to-be-born grandchildren.
